Getting started with Prompt Volumes

Last updated: May 25, 2026

This is a short guide on the quickest way to start using and analyzing Prompt Volumes. More detailed how-to guides are available in 📄 Analyze Prompt Volumes, 📄 Keyword Searches and Create Lists, and other articles in this section.

Step 1: Analyze a prompt

The simplest way to get started is with a keyword or phrase analysis:

  1. Open the Prompt Volumes section in the left sidebar navigation.

  2. Enter a starting keyword or phrase (for example, "AI search optimization" or "business credit cards") in the text input at the top of the page and click Analyze.

  3. Toggle Bulk Analysis to compare multiple topics and rank by volume.

  4. Prioritize keywords with meaningful volume. If you see no volume, go broader until you get signal.

Usually, the keywords or phrases for analysis come from prompt topics you defined in Answer Engine Insights.

Step 2: Review your results

After clicking Analyze, you'll land on a results page that includes:

  • Prompt Volume chart — how often your keyword appears across AI platforms

  • Relevant Prompts table — specific questions users are asking that contain your keyword

  • Similar Keywords — related terms worth exploring

Switch between the Intent, Demographics, and Hierarchy tabs to understand why people are prompting AI in specific ways, who those people are, and how terms relate to your prompts.

Step 3: Create a keyword list

Once you find useful keywords or phrases, group them into lists for ongoing tracking:

  • From the Prompt Volumes landing page, click + Create List

  • Add or remove keywords directly from the list view

  • Click any keyword in the list to view its performance

Step 4: Revisit regularly

User phrasing evolves as AI adoption grows. Check Prompt Volumes regularly to catch rising topics, shifting language, and emerging intent patterns before they become table stakes.
